In 1452, the son of the khan, Qasím, returned visit in Vassili II to perceive the tribute in the name of his/her father. The prince offered to him the town of Novy Nizovoy in order to make it pass to his service. But according to other sources, Qasím and his/her Yosıf brother would be flee of Kazan following the failure of their attempt at takeover against their brother Mäxmüd, and would have found refuge in this city.

So the latter takes the name of Qasím for the Tatars starting from 1471. It was the capital of the Khanat de Qasim until in 1681, date on which the ground was taken again by the Russian and was managed in common with the Tatars.
