Karvia

Karvia is a municipality west of the Finland, in the province of Western Finland and the area of the Satakunta whose it occupies the north-eastern end.

The parish does not exist yet when the peasants raise in the sector in 1596. It is the beginning of the Guerre of the bludgeons, largest Jacquerie of the history of Finland. It finishes in blood and future Karvia loses many inhabitants there.

First mention of the place, in a register of collection of Tax S, date of 1635. Karvia develops slowly in a small agricultural community, rather modest because of the poverty of the grounds in the vicinity of the Moraine of Suomenselkä. It becomes an autonomous commune in 1866.

Today the commune is located at the variation of the main roads, far from the cities. Its economy rests on agriculture, but very the weak density of population (compared to the other communes of the west of the country) allowed the subsistence of many wild zones, in particular part of the national park of Kauhaneva-Pohjankangas.

It is twinned with a small Estonian commune of the name of Viru-Nigula.

The communes bordering are divided between 3 areas:
