Karmapa
The Karmapa (in Sanskrit “the manifestation of the activity of all the Buddhas”) is the title of the chief of the school Karma Kagyu of the Tibet, and one of the four major schools of the Bouddhisme Tibetan.
This branch of a broader line of transmission takes its source in 1st Karmapa, Düsum Khyenpa (1110 - 1193), spiritual sons of the large Master Tibetan Gampopa. The source of the line of oral transmission goes back traditionally to the Buddha Vajradhara and was transmitted to the Indian Master of Mahamudra and Tantra Tilopa (989 - 1069), by Naropa (1016 - 1100), Marpa and Milarepa. These precursors of the Kagyu line are collectively called the '' rosary of gold ''.
2nd Karmapa, Karma Pakshi (1204 - 1283), was the first nobody recognized as a Tulku or réincarné LAMA, which makes of Kagyu the first school introduce this important aspect of Buddhism Tibetan. The line of Karmapas differs however from the other lines Tulku, by the fact that Karmapas are car-grateful. That means that the choice of new the tulku is based not on the perception of others spangled, but on the basis of special prediction detailing the circumstances of the next rebirth.
The black cap
Karmapas are the holders of the black cap (Tibetan cod-side) and are thus sometimes known as spangled them with the " hat noir" (Tibetan zhwa-nag). This cap, rangjung chopen (the cap appeared of itself), was woven by the Dakini S starting from their hair and was offered to Karmapa in recognition of its spiritual realization. It is said that the only sight of this cap can wake up the deepest potential of the spirit and even bring the Illumination. The physical cap carried by Karmapas was offered to 5th Karmapa by the Chinese emperor Yongle like a material representation of the spiritual cap.
It is currently preserved at Rumtek with the Sikkim, which was the last residence of 16th Karmapa.
