Karmaling

The Karmaling institute is a center of study and practice of the Dharma affiliated at the community Sangha Dashang Rimay, being located in Savoy at Arvillard, hamlet of Hugon Saint.

History

In 1979, an small group of practitioners Bouddhistes acquire old Chartreuse of St-Hugon to restore it and offer it to the large Master Tibetan Kalou Rinpoché. This last devotes the place (naming it " Karma Chédroup Tcheu Ling ") and into crystallized the spiritual direction with its principal disciple in Occident LAMA Denys. This institute quickly becomes one of most important centers study and of Buddhist practice in France.

Its holiness the 14th Dalaï Lama (Tenzin Gyatso) proposed lesson at the Karmaling institute twice, in 1993 and 1997.

Activity

Except the usual activities of a center of the Dharma (seminars, retirements, lesson of large Masters…), the Karmaling institute, under the impulse of LAMA Denys, organizes very many meetings inter-religions and inter-traditions.

Since 1984, the instut Karmaling shelters two centers of traditional retirement long life (3 years retirements): Naro and Nigou Ling .

In the year 2000, the institute acquires of 55 hectares ground around the old chartreuse one, giving rise to a gigantic eco-site (" the éco-site of Avalon ").

Since 2000, the instut Karmaling also shelters the university Nalanda Rimay (connects European of World Buddhist University).
