Karla Homolka

Karla Homolka (born Karla Leanne Teale the May 4th 1970 with Port Credit, Ontario -) was the wife and the accomplice of the Serial killer Paul Bernardo.

Biography

She studied at the secondary school Sir Winston Churchill with St Catharines, Ontario, where she moved in when she was child. After its secondary studies, she worked in a private clinic Vétérinaire and, in October 1987, she met Paul Bernardo with a convention of animalist industry with Toronto.

She was hospitalized in 1993 following the ill treatments inflicted by her husband. The police force will discover shortly after that Bernardo is the “Viol or of Scarborough”, by analyzing samples of body substances taken on twenty-six Bernardo month before. An psychiatric evaluation, control shortly after that Homolka had acknowledged the role of the couple in the murders of the teenagers French and Mahaffy, reveals a degraded psychic state.

After having collaborated with the authorities in the continuation of Bernardo, and to have purged a 12 years sorrow for Homicide involuntary culprit, obtained within the framework of his agreement with the authorities, it was released the July 4th 2005. Its responsibility in death for several young girls (of which its own young person sister Tammy Homolka, doped then violated) killed by Bernardo is proven. For this reason, its release causes many concerns among the population, in spite of the insurances of the authorities.

During an interview with the chain Radio-Canada hardly two hours after its coming out of prison, Homolka said “Often I cry. I am not able to forgive me. I think so that I made, then I think that I do not deserve to be happy because of that”. She also said that she wanted to remake her life with the Quebec and in French, because she was wrongfully treated by the media with English Canada.

In 2006, a film proposing a fictionalized Biographie of its life was diffused on the North-American screens.

“I do not want to be tracked. I do not want that the world thinks that I am somebody of dangerous who will do something with their children”, has it says to explain his decision to grant the exclusive interview to Téléjournal/Le Point.

Chronology

October 1987: first meeting in Toronto of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.
December 24th, 1990: murder of Tammy, 15 years, the sister of Karla. The teenager was doped and violated by the couple before dying, choked by her vomits.
June 5th, 1991: murder of Leslie Mahaffy, 15 years. The teenager was removed by Bernardo, violated with repetition and strangled with an electric wire. Its body was output of pieces, run in concrete and jeté at the bottom of the lake Gibson.
June 29th, 1991: marriage of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.
April 18th, 1992: murder of Kristen French, 15 years. Like Leslie Mahaffy, Kristen French was removed, doped and violated with repetition before being strangled by Bernardo.
February 3rd, 2007: it is confined of a boy.
