Karl Michahelles

Karl Michahelles , born in 1807 and died in 1834, is a Médecin and a German Zoologiste originating in Bavaria.

Michahelles travelled much in Dalmatie and Croatia and contributed largely to the knowledge of avian fauna of these areas. At the 27 years age, it settles in Greece, where it practices the medicine and where it studies the wildlife. Among the Mediterranean species which it identifies, one can quote the Sittelle de Neumayer ( Sitta neumayer ).

A subspecies of the Goéland leucophée ( Larus cachinnans michahellis ) was dedicated to him by Christoph von Feldegg (1780-1845) and Johann Friedrich Naumann (1780-1857).
