Karl Carstens , born on December 14th, 1914 and dead on May 30th, 1992, was a West German politician member of the Union Christian Democrat (CDU). He was president of the Bundestag of 1976 with 1979 then federal president of 1979 with 1984.

Lawyer, Karl Carstens followed an international course in right and political science within faculties of Frankfurt, Dijon, Munich, Königsberg and Hamburg during the Thirties. Become lawyer in 1939, it is constrained, like the majority of lawyers of the time hitlérienne, to adhere to the NSDAP.
