Biographical elements
In 1911, he is the first mountaineer to climb the totality of the 4000 of the Alps of the time. But in 1913, by examining a republication of the Mont Blanc Führer , it realizes that solid mass of the new Mont Blanc account two 4000: the Large Rock (4102 m) and the Needle of the Garden (4035 m). In order to continue its logic of rise from all the 4000 of the Alps, he undertakes the rise as of these two tops: the First World War, then persistent health issues following a fall, oblige it to give up. It is only in July 1932, then 73 years old, which it concretizes its project by carrying out as a recluse the rises of Large Rock and the needle of the Garden after 2 800 m of uneven the first day, these two tops becoming thus 75e and 76e tops of more than 4000 meters to its prize list.
Karl Blodig reported its rises in several works.
