Karl Abraham

Karl Abraham (Bremen 1877 - Berlin 1925) is a doctor and German psychoanalyst. It is one of the pioneers of the psychoanalysis.

Biography

Karl Abraham is born in 1877. It follows studies of Médecine then takes a station with the Burghölzli with Zurich, near Eugen Bleuler. It will be initiated there with the Psychanalyse, amongst other things with Carl Gustav Jung. In 1907, it meets Sigmund Freud. It returns to Germany and founds there the Berliner Société of psychoanalysis in 1910. He was the second analyst of Melanie Klein and goods of other futures and famous psychoanalysts. He was the president of the international psychoanalytical Association of 1914 to 1918 then again in 1925, year of his early death.

Influence

Karl Abraham was interested in the developmental stages of the infantile Sexualité, breaking up the oral stage into oral stage and stage cannibalic, and indicating like border between Névrose and Psychose the passage of the anal stage aiming at the defecation at the anal stage aiming at the retention. It influenced many authors, as well adherent of the Théorie of the object-relationship as égopsychology.
