Karel Kryl
Karel Kryl is a popular singer Czech born on April 12th, 1944 and dead on March 3rd, 1994. He wrote and sang many very critical songs with respect to the communist mode .
Biography
He is born in Kroměříž in Moravie, wire of Karel Kryl and Marie Krylová. His/her father was printer and they were expropriés family company in 1948 by the come to power of the Communist regime. The studies are prohibited to him, it thus works in a medical ceramics factory with Teplice. In the years 1960, it is impassioned for French poetry and discovers the Western music. It approaches to pacifism and the movement hippie by affirming a strong individualism. It arrives at Prague in 1967 and works in Radio Ostrava. It starts to compose, sings in many small clubs praguois and creates a small theater (Waterloo Divadlo).The Soviet invasion of August 21st, 1968 to stop the democratization of the Printemps of Prague puts an end to this happy period and on August 22nd to him its most famous song inspires, Bratříčku zavírej vrátka , ( Ferme the door little brother ). The album is published in 1969 and is censured by the mode shortly after. It is exiled one month after the Soviet invasion and settles with Munich where it continues to write, compose and sing. It becomes one of the icons of the protest anticommunist and its songs are very widely diffused.
