Karel Domin

Karel Domin is a politician and a Czech Botaniste , born the May 4th 1882 with Kutná Hora and dead the June 10th 1953 with Prague.

It makes its studies with gymnasium of Příbram then to the Université Charles of Prague where it receives an enabling in botany in 1906. In 1916, he becomes professor of botany and specializes on the Phytogéographie and the vegetable Taxinomie. He becomes member of the Czech Academy of Science and founds the institute of botany of the university of Prague.

He initiates the fight for the old university badges between the Czech and German universities of Prague ( insigniáda ) which cause street battles and riots. During the period 1935-1939, he is member of the Parliament. After the Agreements of Munich, it takes part in the foundation of the political movement near to Fascism Akce národní obrody .
