Karate c.a.m.

History

In Quebec one finds an alternative of Yoseikan-karate-C. It is that taught in the Clubs schools of Martial arts (C.A.M.). This movement at summer founded by a group which wished to bring certain changes to the ideology of Yoseikan taught to Quebec. Although some katas is different and that the combat is emphasized more that in traditional the Yoseikan style, this style is nevertheless regarded as belonging to the Yoseikan family from where it draws its inspiration. One finds several schools of this style in Quebec of which in Joliette, Saint-Jerome and Mascouche.

As for the other styles of karate; to arrive at the control of this style the pupil must acquire knowledge in three fields which are:

  • the attack/against attack ( Kihon )

  • Katas
  • the combat ( kumite )

Word YOSEIKAN

  • Ye or Yo which means to educate, to transmit knowledge, to convey a spirit of wisdom.

  • Sei which represents honesty, uprightness, the respect and the opening to globality.
  • Kan which indicates the place of recontre, the large house, the family, will of association.

Belts

For Yoseikan C.A.M. the progession of the belts is done in the following order:

  1. white Belt

  2. yellow Belt
  3. orange Belt
  4. Belt violet
  5. green Belt
  6. Belt blue
  7. brown Belt
  8. black Belt

- Since 2005 the belt violet (which in fact represents the orange and half belt) at summer added to the advance towards the black belt and the change at summer adopted in more the share of the schools of the C.A.M.

- To also note that starting from the 4th daN one can carry a black and red belt.

Katas

Here different the katas which must be controlled by the pupils during their training; several of enter them are old katas practiced in several styles of karate whereas others were created starting from old the katas. I have write the equivalent for those which I know.

  • Kata de Défense

  • First Pian (Heian Shodan)
  • Second Pian (Heian Nidan)
  • Third Pian (Heian Sandan)
  • Fourth Pian (Heian Yodan)
  • First Yoseikan
  • Second Yoseikan
  • Banzaï
  • Shioway
  • Nisisisho
  • Kata de Défense with displacement
  • First Pian reverses
