Karaman
Karaman , known formerly under the name of Laranda (in Greek old τὰ Λάρανδα ), is a town of Turkey of approximately 100 000 inhabitants, Prefecture of the Province of the same name, and which is populated approximately 243000 inhabitants.
History
Karaman owes its name with the Turkish tribe of Karamanides (in Turkish: Karamanoğulları) which conquered the city in 1250 and created the sultanate independent of Karamanie. After the fall of the Empire seldjoukide, Karamanie remained independent until its annexation by the Othoman sultan Mehmed I {{er}}.
