Karaiskaki stage

The stage Karaiskaki (in Greek el Στάδιο Γεώργιος Καραϊσκάκης ) is the Olympic stadium of Athens.

Located at the south-east of the country, the capital of the Greece is a city all in contrasts. Modern buildings primarily dedicated to the trade border old monuments, the very whole city lives at the vibrating rate/rhythm of the 21e century but, in the middle same of the city, the eight hills irradiate calm peaceful, while orange trees and hanging gardens punctuate the allotments of dwellings. The Karaiskaki stage

This enclosure entirely rebuilt for the occasion will accommodate matches first turn, the quarterfinals, the semi-finals and the finale of the Olympic Tournament of Female Football. Conceived in the beginning to be used as track cycle-racing track at the time of the first Olympic Games of the modern time in 1896, the Karaiskaki stage is rich of a long story. Recently still, Olympiakos, one of the largest Greek clubs, disputed all its meetings in residence there. It is expected besides that the club of Pirée reinstates its historical stage at the conclusion of the Olympic Games.

Karaiskaki, which is in Pirée, with 10 kilometers of the center of Athens has a capacity of more than 30.000 places and fact part of the five sites retained for the Olympic Tournament of Football. It is the only stage conceived specifically for football.

Founded in 1925, the FC Olympiakos Pirée is the largest Greek club of the History. Called “Thrylos” (the Legend), it gained the national championship with 30 recoveries and account more than 20 Cuts of Greece to its prize list. However, its successes on the European scene more modest since it are forever exceeded the stage of the quarterfinals of the Cut of Europe (1998/99). Olympiakos, whose principal rivals are Panathinaikos and the AEK Athens, plays in white and red.

The Olympic stadium

This superb stage drawn by Santiago Calatrava will accommodate the finale of the Olympic Tournament of football. Located at Maroussi, it is equipped with two giant antennas which cover 304m with a maximum height of 80m and in fact are intended to support the cables which make it possible to close the roof. True “crown jewel”, this one should cover 95% of the places. Moreover, thanks to its coating, it will be able to reflect up to 60% of the rays of the sun. The Olympic stadium will accommodate the majority of the tests of athletics as well as the fence and opening ceremonies.
