Kara Walker

Kara Walker is a Plasticien Afro-américaine, born with Stockton in California the November 26th 1969.

It was graduate in 1991 of the University of art of Atlanta (BFA) and in 1994 of the School of design of Rhode Island (MFA).

It realizes since installations, drawings, watercolours and wall-paintings, working mainly around the history of the Esclavage and its heritage in the contemporary company states-unienne. It is consequently also interested in the questions touching with the Racial discrimination, the relations between the Blacks and the White, with the master-slave reports/ratios or the segregation.

It especially known for its large cut out black silhouettes, near to is returned of a Chinese shade.

In 2007, Time Magazine classified it among the 100 most influential people of the world.

Currently, she lives with New York where she teaches visual arts with the Université of Columbia.
