Kanishka Ier
Kanishka Ier is the most known sovereign of the Empire kouchan. It reigned of 127 with 147 approximately and supported the expansion of the Bouddhisme and the rise of the gréco-Buddhist Art, where the Bouddha, formerly represented in form symbolic system (wheel, impressed feet), took the face of the Greek gods and in particular of Apollon. The talibans destroyed in 2000 its statue, a single part of the museum of Kabul.
Kanishka, wire of Vima Kadphisès, is a large conqueror and a wise administrator. It reigns on vast a empire, of the Central Asia to the Principauté of Bénarès. It carries at the same time the Indian title of Maharajah (large king), Iranian of King of the Kings, and Wire Chinese of the Sky. Its capital is in Purushapura (Peshawar).
Kanichka is regarded as a large guard of the Bouddhisme. It is at that time that this religion starts to be propagated in Central Asia then in the Far East. It honors however with other religions, like the Zoroastrisme, the Mithraïsme or the Greek religion.
The chronology of the dynasty kusâna is discussed: the era of Shaka begins in 78 and much of researchers consider that it is about the year one of Kanishka . The English orientalist Roman Ghirshman appoints the date of year 144 because he thinks that the dynasty kusâna will be reversed by the first king of the sassanides in 241. Robert Göbl is based on studies numismatics to make the point that the empire kusâna crumbled only in 325, which makes him regard 225 as the year one of Kanishka.
