Pierre Boaistuau , known as Pierre Launay (towards 1500, Nantes - 1566, Paris), compiler and writer French.
He was the first editor of the news of Marguerite de Navarre. He is the inventor of two of the kinds most characteristic of second half of the 16th century, the " tragic history " and l'" extraordinary history " , author of one of greatest European successes of its time, the Theater of the World (1558). Given like a translation of Chelidonius, this work makes us visit his library and, of the eclecticism of its preferences.
It is him which made known in Europe the history of Romeo and Juliette), the war makes him horror. It still practices the most invaluable authors and witnesses: Erasme, Jose Clichtove, Clutched, Etienne Dolet ".

There be 10 editions since the first of Paris, Sertenas, 1556 until that of Lyon, Stone, in 1585. It is the first complete edition of the other treaties: Peace and war, Excellence of the Marriage is that of Paris, Marnef, 1578. It would seem that these various treaties appeared for the first time in this edition of 1570. An English edition, translated by James Chillester is appeared with London in 1571, with the War and peace treaties and the Excellence of the marriage.
