Kamov

Kamov (in Russian Камов ) is a joint stock company of Russian right Kamov JSC (Joined Company Stock) which took the continuation of the old research department (OKB, in Russian ОсобоеКонструкторскоеБюро ) founded under the Soviet mode by Nikolaï Kamov in 1948. It is specialized in the design of helicopters whose principal characteristic is their contrarotating rotors coaxial which make it possible to make the saving in a anti-torque Rotor (and corresponding fall of performances), thus reducing the risks of wounds of the ground personnel and the quantity of parts necessary. The advantages of this configuration of rotors are also dynamic: stability and the précison in hovering are much better than on a traditional helicopter, the rotors have a report/ratio thorough/diameter of extremely favorable rotor what is an advantage determining in the transport of loads to the sling which are often carried out in difficult and encumbered places of access and for which Kamov, also known for their great robustness and reliability, are very appreciated in spite of the powerful breath under the rotors which can be awkward for the ground personnel. Thus a Kamov Ka 32 of 4500cv which can raise 5 tons has a diameter of rotors comparable with that of a traditional four-seater helicopter… Only the true disadvantage of this configuration of rotors is impossibility of being posed in autorotation (cut engines), Kamov are thus equipped at least with 2 engines for safety reasons.
