Kamehameha Ier , the Large Kamehameha , (towards 1758 - 1819), was the king of the islands Hawaii and is the craftsman of their unit, melting the Royaume of Hawaii in 1810.

King Kamehameha Ier reached in 1792 the throne of the insular kingdom of island of Hawaii and carried out starting from 1795 the conquest of the whole of the Archipel which it joins together under his domination after fifteen years of fights. After its death in 1819, the Maison of Kamehameha reigned on the Archipelago of Hawaii until in 1873. The succession of Kamehameha 1st was ensured by its two sons, initially by his/her oldest son Kamehameha II which mourrut at the time of a voyage to London after 5 years of reign, then by his/her son junior, Kamehameha III which reigned 30 years, the longest reign of monarchy hawaiienne.

It was predicted with the mother of Kamehameha that his/her son would be a destructor of chiefs and powerful a leader . The ali' I of the island did not take the Prophétie with the light one, but before the sentence was concluded, the parents of Kamehameha hid it, once the Rite S of birth completed with the Heiau of Mo' okini, located close to the birthplace of the large king, vis-a-vis Maui.

Pai' ea of its name of birth is known under the name of Kamehameha which in Hawaiien very only means .

June 11th celebrates the birth of this large king, whose exact date is unknown: the legend wants that it was born one night from storm, the winter of 1758. This day gives place to a ceremony of demounting of chains of flowers ( LEIS ) on the statue of Kamehameha with Honolulu and Kapaau, at the place where Kamehameha passed its childhood. The most important ceremony is that of Honolulu, the statue disappearing under the long chains of flowers. This date was founded by royal proclamation by Kamehameha V, grandson of Kamehameha Ier, in 1871 to celebrate the life and the achievements of the largest king, Head of State and warrior of Hawaii.

Inspirations

Akira Toriyama would have taken as a starting point this character to name a special technique very much used by the warlike heroes of sound Manga Dragon Ball : Kaméhaméha.
