Kaluđerica

Kaluđerica , in Serb Cyrillic Sr Калуђерица, is a locality of Serbia located in the municipality of Grocka, district of Belgrade. In 2002, it counted: 22248 inhabitants, of which a majority of Serb.

Kaluđerica is located at 8 km in the east of Belgrade. Its name means “the city of the monk”.

Presentation

Kaluđerica knows a population growth among most spectacular of Serbia. In 2005, its population was estimated at: 23481 inhabitants. In spite of that, the city is still officially classified among the rural localities. This growth is explained by an surge of refugees coming from Bosnia-Herzégovine, Croatia and the Kosovo. Many of these refugees are more or less " illégaux". The Transport company Public of the Town of Belgrade (GSP) and Telecommunications of Serbia, while being based on the number of their users, estimate the figure of the population between: 45000 and: 50000 inhabitants. The living conditions of these inhabitants are often rudimentary.

Klenak

The oriental party of Kaluđerica is known under the name of Klenak. This suburb is the highest point of the locality; it thus offers a point of view on the remainder of Kaluđerica. Klenak developed along the highway Belgrade Niš (European Route E75) and, so is prolonged on the municipality of Zvezdara and forms a whole with Mali Mokri Lug. A bridge on the highway connects Klenak and Mali Mokri Lug to Veliki Mokri Lug, locality which extended on the other side of the highway.
