Kali escrima
Kali-escrima is a made up synonym for Filipino martial arts Arnis (Eskrima).
The Kali is an old system of combat of Philippines whose name refers to a model of Malayan saber with large blade. These techniques are strongly influenced by the combat with knives imported by the Spanish conquerors in second half of XVIe century. There exists today of many styles according to the various ethnos groups.
More and more the Kali indicates today the whole of the Filipino martial arts practiced with or without weapons: Escrima (with knives), Arnis, Sirakan (boxes feet and fists), Dumog (fight).
