Kalenjin
The Kalenjins are people of origin alive Nilotique in and around the Vallée of the great rift, in the west of the Kenya. The ethnicity counts approximately 3 million people, but is divided into many tribes. Principalements pastors living of extensive breeding, they would be originating in the Sudan and would have migrated 2.000 years ago.
The name given to this ethnicity is stabilized and accepted only since the Années 1960, the colonial administration having taken before the practice to designate these people under the name of people speaking the language Nandi . The name Kalenjin, adopted thereafter, means I tell you in Nandi language.
Kalenjins are very known apart from Kenya for their exceptional athletic performances. They indeed gained since the Années 1980 approximately 40% of the medals in basic race and medium-distance race with the Olympic Games as with the Championnats of the world of athletics.
