Kalemy

Kalemie , in the past Albertville (according to Albert Ier of Belgium) is a locality and a territory of the Katanga in Democratic republic of Congo. She is the principal locality of the Western coast of the Lac Tanganyika. She is the starting point of a railway line of the National company of the Railroads of Congo which joined the North-South line Kindu - Lubumbashi at the town of Kabalo.

The city will be founded the January 3rd 1892 by Jacques de Dixmude, and quickly will be besieged and attacked by the troops of Rumaliza, at the time of the campaigns of the State independent of Congo against Arabo-Swahilis.

Kalemy has an airport (code AITA: the IMF). Construction d´une railway line jusqu´á Bukavu to disenclose the area of Kivu at summer suggested.
