Kalîla wa Dimna
Kalîla wa Dimna ( Kalîla and Dimna ) is a collection of Persan tales translates Indian Pañchatantra by the Persan writer Ibn Al-Muqaffa into 750. The two jackals, Kalîla and Dimna - derived from the Sanskrit Karataka and Damanaka - hero of the first tale of the first book of the Pañchatantra, are at the origin of the title of these tales.
The Kalîla wa Dimna was nicely enluminé, in particular by the school of Miniature Persian of Hérat in Afghanistan (to which the great painter miniaturist Behzad is attached) at the 15th century.
