Kaiser Chiefs is a group independent of British Britpop originating in Leeds formed in 1997 under the name of Parva , then famous in Kaiser Chiefs in 2003.
It is victorious of 3 Brit Awards in 2006 (better group, better rock'n'roll group and better concert) and author of two albums, Employment , left in 2005, which was greeted by the British critic and was a great public success grace in particular to the 2 tubes Everyday I coils you less and less and I predict has riot , and " Yours Truly, Angry Mob" left in 2007, which also gained an astonishing success thanks to " to him; Ruby"
The name of the group comes from the name of the South-African club Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, in which with played Lucas Radebe, former captain of the team of Leeds, whose members of the group are supporters.
When Kaiser Chiefs was formed in the town of Leeds, in the neighborhoods of the summer 2003, the goal of the group was not to conquer the stages nor to change the world. In the dark recesses of the clubs and concert halls located a little everywhere in the city, Ricky Wilson (song), Andrew `Whitey' White (guitar), Simon Rix (low), Nick `Peanut' Baines (keyboards) and Nick Hodgson (battery and song) had decided to form a group which would be harnessed with the frightening task to be able to take down a passage at the beginning of day with the Festival of Leeds of the following year. Eighteen months later, the boys threaded without invitations in the British classifications of individual, embanked immense crowd until Moscow and carried out triumphing first parts of Franz Ferdinand.
The history of Kaisers starts in fact some time before they decided to choose like name that of a African Southern football team with success. Buddies of school, Simon, Peanut and Nick had played together in various groups since the fifteen years age before espionner Ricky, graduate of a school of art and true ball of hyperactive energy, singing with a group of resumptions of the Rolling Stones. At the beginning, Ricky refuses their invitation to join their rows, but it ends up yielding. “I do not know why,” known as Nick while laughing. “We did not have any song yet, at this moment.” After being itself immersed in the very alive scene of Leeds, Ricky and Nick start to animate the legendary electro-punk festivals Pigs, which attract each month a mixture of elegant originals. These nights passed in the folklore of Leeds: accustomed to the stray glance stories of invaded scenes tell still today, saoûleries as well as the way in which the bouncers prohibited Nick from finishing one night by “Ace Of Spades” of Motörhead, which encouraged with too much carnage (a rule that they quickly transgressed).
Of course, the fact of being in the center of the local music scene most vibrating of the country makes realize with the group which it must musicalement raise the level. And thus, after a particularly hot crisis meeting, the musicians fall from agreement on the fact that, if they want one day to obtain this famous passage to Leeds Festival, they must all begin again to zero. They put thus quickly at all to change, which wants to say to find new name (“It was the only one to be suggested that we do not hate all”) and to give up all their old songs. “It was like seeing the light,” known as Ricky. “We had tried so much extremely to conform us that we had lost sight of the fact what we could do of better - not to conform us.” `Not to be in conformity' implies, seems it, the fact of working pop songs exceeding all the others which speak about streets of the cities filled hooligans at closing time or thewobbly ones. Songs which can be written only by observing the characteristics of the life in the North of England, and of the songs whose sound is enamelled reminiscences going of Madness to the Kinks while passing by Roxy Music and Blur.
“Simply had Us of it enough of all these terrible groups come from on the other side of the Atlantic” known as Nick. Ricky approves: “We stopped singing on the fact of working on a going and railroad to the balls of the college, and we started to speak about what is to be mown in Hyde Park de Leeds.” That touched a sensitive cord. The first individual one financed, on the independent label DrownedinSound, “Oh My God”, was classified number 66 in the charts, although it is about an limited edition recorded in the room to sleep of Nick. The following, “I Predict has Riot” (their first true publication, after they signed with the B-Single independent label - recording company of The Ordinary Boys and The Automatic inter alia) was found directly with the periphery of Signal 20.
Elsewhere, they signed American and Japanese contracts with Universal, and became one of the rare British groups to find on the playlist influential radio operator rock'n'roll American KROQ. Even their Leeds United Football Club cherished started to send their songs full pots in the loudspeakers of the stage. With all that, it is little surprising that they were found chosen to make the opening of round 2005 of the NME Awards: a place which helped before of the groups like Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand to be advanced on their road towards glory. Their second album, “Yours Truly, Angry Mob”, left in February 2007.
In addition they indeed carried out a one hour service before the arrival of group MUSE on scene on July 12th, 2006 at the Stage Louis II in Monaco where Nick played perfectly its part of leader of the group by delivering an energetic service which charmed the 20.000 spectators of the arena bearing the name of the back grandfather of the current sovereign of the Principality.
