Kaella

Kaella (Knoppix Linux Azure) is a distribution GNU/Linux francized and adapted Knoppix, it even based on the concept of the LiveCD. It was created in 2004 by Yann Cochard, which maintains it since.

Use

Kaella is contained on a CD-ROM and functions according to the concept of LiveCD, therefore without anything to have to install on the hard drive of the computer used. It is a complete Operating system, provided with all the Logiciel S necessary to a standard use: Navigator Internet, transport, office automation continuation, readers multi-media (images, photographs, sounds, video), plays, etc is installed and usable directly, without any necessary preliminary knowledge. To use it, it is enough to start the computer with the CD-ROM in the reader - provided that BIOS is configured for Boot er starting from CD. The distribution launches out then after a variable time according to the configuration of the host-computer.

This CD is very useful for the beginners who would like to test a GNU/Linux system because it is easy to handle, immediately usable (without any parameter to enter) and which more is in French. But it is also very useful for any user who could break down of Hard drive for example, since this last is not requested.

For starting well

To download a file image CD (it is a file with the format ISO containing all the data to be engraved). To be certain that there no were losses at the time of the remote loading, you can check the sum MD5 of this file, but that is not obligatory.

Then, to engrave Kaella, it is very important to engrave the image and not to make " to engrave a fichier" or to decompress the file and to engrave the independent files, it is a traditional error which make of the even tested users; thus to choose: to engrave an image on the disc (the terms can slightly vary according to your software of engraving).

Knoppix

Kaella is based on the distribution Knoppix: certain software was removed, others were added, but it was especially francized. It is not a “Fork”, because it is rebuilt with each new version of Knoppix, to benefit the maximum of the last innovations. Like Knoppix, Kaella can be installed like operating system complete and permanent using these 2 orders:

Distribution

In connection with the Linux-Arverne Project, CD containing a distribution bootable of Kaella was distributed to all the pupils of the colleges of Auvergne in September 2005.
