Kaei era
The era Kaei (in Japanese: ja 嘉永) is one of the eras of Japan (ja 年号, nengō , literally “the name of the year”) according to the era Kōka and preceding the era Ansei extending from the 1848 to the 1854. The emperors reigning was Kōmei - tennō (ja 孝明天皇).

The Kaei era was proclaimed at the time of the fifteenth year of Tenpō (1848).
