Kachine
Kachine (in Russian: Ка́шин ) is a city of the Oblast de Tver, in Russia. It is located on the Kachinka, in an agricultural zone, and counted 17.299 inhabitants in 2002.
History
Kachine was mentioned for the first time in 1238, when it was plundered by the Mongolian . The large duke of Tver, Michel III, gave the city in prerogative to his Vassili son, who founded a short dynasty of local princes there.Anne, wife of Michel III, took the veil in a female monastery of Kachine and died there in 1368: she was proclaimed in 1650 by the Russian orthodoxe Église holy owner of the women having suffered from the loss of a close relation. Its relics are preserved in the cathedral of Kachine.
In 1382, Kachine was annexed by the principality of Tver, although, of 1399 with 1426, it was controlled by a second dynasty of princes.
Kachine was besieged in 1452 by Dimitri Chemyaka, then was finally annexed to the Moscovie in 1486 with the remainder of the principality of Tver. In 1708, it is integrated in the governorship of Ingrie.
