Beginning of the history

Samuel Bellamy, young police inspector, is dependant of friendship with Joseph Katz, an old Jewish second-hand dealer survivor of the camps of death. Samuel and Joseph like to play failures, but one morning in the store of Joseph, whereas Samuel had just lost against this last, a German enters the secondhand trade. Joseph recognizes Rudi Guter, a former officer S who massacred his family during the war. Guter recognizes Joseph because of a spot of birth behind its left ear. The two men put themselves to fight in the store whereas Samuel tries to gain the secondhand trade to try to stop them. But too late, whereas Guter, not having come only, calls its men with the help, Katz leaves a gun and cuts down under the eyes of Sam. Katz finally stopped by the police force, Sam must be given the responsability to bring it to the police station but not wanting that he is judged, he releases his old friend and wants to entrust it to his father who must leave for Israel. But little time after, the men of Guter finds Katz in the store of the father of Sam. Katz arrives has to escape but it is found died the evening even after its store exploded.

Alexandre Arcady explains the title by saying that K it is “like killer, Kafka, Kuwait, the KGB, Kaddish…”.

Around film

It is the fourth collaboration between Patrick Bruel and Alexandre Arcady. The two men had already worked in the Blow of sirocco , the Great Carnival and the Sacred union .

This film is close to Z of Costa-Gavras because Jorge Semprun had also worked on this film. Jorge Semprun had written the great voyage where he spoke about his past of deportee. It is one of the main themes of K .

Alexandre Arcady had the idea to make this film at the time of the fiftieth birthday of the release of the camp of Auschwitz.
