Kōkyo
The Kōkyo (皇居) is the imperial palace of Tōkyō and the residence of the Empereur of Japan. It is located in the district of Chiyoda. After the Restoration Meiji and the ousting of the Shogun S, the imperial court migrated of Kyōto towards Tōkyō and the old residence of the Tokugawa, the Château of Edo became the residence of the emperor. Of 1888 with 1948, one named it kyūjō (castle palate).
It was bombarded during the Second world war but was rebuilt with identical in 1968.
Most of the palate is not accessible to the public except for the gardens from the East. The interior of the palate is opened with the public only two days per annum, the day of the birthday of the emperor (currently the December 23rd) and for the New year (January 2nd).
Kōkyo is close to the subway station Tōkyō.
