Kōbe
is more the big city in the Préfecture of Hyōgo, located on the island of Honshū near to Ōsaka. The city has one of largest the ports of the Japan.
It counts more than 1,5 million inhabitants mid-June 2005. 3 million inhabitants populates Kōbe and his periphery (Akashi, Kakogawa, etc).
It was one of the first cities to open a commercial connection with the countries of the West, in 1868, and of this fact she is recognized like a cosmopolitan port city. This nature explains why it counts more than 45,000 foreign residents coming of more than 100 different countries.
The January 17th 1995, Kōbe undergoes a Earthquake, which made 5 000 victims, 300 000 without home and destroyed most of the city and port.
Kōbe is known for its European district and its beef but also for the sight that it offers to its inhabitants the night, and its exotic atmosphere which it holds of its harbor nature. There is a onsen (a thermal bath) famous: Arima-Onsen (有馬温泉).
Kobe is frequently associated with the events of mode style Fashion. the Collection Kobe, popular near the female gente was exported besides in the other big cities since 2002, but also in China, with Shanghai.
