Köprülü

Köprülü is the name of a family of top dogs and pashas of the Ottoman Empire of Albanian origin , installed in the town of Köprü (Pont), current Vezirköprü (bridge of the vizier) in the province of Samsun, which gave him its name.

In 1656, Mehmet Köprülü arrived at the capacity at Constantinople and inaugurated one period of more than twenty-five years of governmental stability, political and military rectification and more largely of restoration of prestige of the Ottoman Empire. This policy was continued by his/her son and successor, Ahmed Pasha (1661-1676) then by his son-in-law Kara Mustafa (1676-1683). This one in particular overpowered the ambassadors and especially the foreign merchants of heavy fines.
