Kérity
The parish of Kérity , wedged in the évêché of Saint-Brieuc belonged to the deanery of concerning Lanvollon évêché of Fraud and was under the term of Saint Samson. The church of " Keriti" (since 1189) or of Quérity (1198) is quoted in the charters of the abbeys of Saint-Riom and Beauport.
Church
The first church Saint-Samson de Kérity goes back to the end of the 12th century. It belonged to the Abbaye of Saint-Riom. When this one was given up, the church was given to the monks of the abbey of Beauport in 1202 on which it depended until the Révolution. Old church rebuilt at the 16th century, it remains nothing any more. It was at one time in the current district of Holy-Bores called “the Old Borough today”. This building is in ruin when that a new church is built in the “Terron”. In 1862, the old poor church, ugly, badly paved with statues of saints coarsely made, with a small bell-tower bored for three bells was cut down. The stones were re-used to build the presbytery. The blessing of the first stone of the new church took place on March 22nd, 1859 and the blessing on January 18th, 1863. The tower was built only in 1890.
Vault of Holy-Bores
Dominating bay of Paimpol, the Chapelle of Holy-Bores is a building of the 17th century altered at the 20th century (1908). It is built on the highest eminence of the parish of Kérity, to the place says “Mac' helaire”. It is with this vault, the only one of the parish, that every year, the fishermen of Iceland and Newfoundland came in pilgrimage to ask Sainte Beard to protect them from the lightning and all the dangers. In addition to small forgiveness celebrated on December 4th, great forgiveness is celebrated the day of the Ascension. This day there, from many pilgrims come to visit the vault. They formerly brought their money or corn offering. Beside the vault a small buried and overcome oratory of a martyrdom is. It is in this small building that one stored formerly corn offered the day of forgiveness.

Building sites Good
In 1852, Louis Morand arms the Occasion , the first ship to leave the port of Paimpol to fish the Morue with broad of the Iceland. In 1935, the Glycine will be the last Goëlette to be left for the Grande Fishing . Between these two dates, Paimpol and its area will know one boom, which one calls since in the quoted of the Icelanders (nickname of Paimpol), the Grande time . All kinds of activities then will develop and in particular the Naval construction. In 1899, the Bonne building sites are established in Poulafret on the territory of Kérity. They then will give a very strong impulse to naval construction Paimpol ease.
Careers of Kérity
The territory of Kérity is very interesting at the geological level . It indeed offers a large variety of rocks used in the construction industry but also for the macadamization of the roads. The frontages of the houses of the area paimpolaise testify to this geological richness. Guilben is the place where one finds the spilite of Paimpol, a ic rock Volcan épanchée under the sea. However, very difficult to cut, it is not often used. Files of the 13th century also attest presence of careers on the small island of Cruckin, one extracted then there a Schiste blue-black. A little further in direction Plouézec are the careers of Danet. One of it was exploited for its pink sandstone. This rock is also called sandstone of Plourivo . The valley of the Trieux corresponded formerly with the beginning of the old chain cadomienne. The sandstones and other conglomerates were abundantly used in construction for the stones of angle and the entourages, but also like hardcores.
Annexation of Kérity by the town of Paimpol
The commune of Paimpol in the beginning counts only fourteen hectares. In 1838, it decides to undertake great work with the draining of a pond and the construction of a port. This one will include/understand quays and a pier protecting from the winds of the North-East which will have to be obligatorily pressed on bank of the pond located at Kérity. To facilitate work, the municipality of Paimpol proposes to annex part of the district of Kernoa in spite of the opposition of Kérity. This operation will be decided in 1843 and from now on the port area will form integral part of Paimpol. In 1899, the railroad coming from Guingamp arrives at Paimpol. The station will be established on a new ground obtained by draining a pond. But part of this one still formed part of the territory of Kérity. The prefect decides to rectify the border again insofar as the commune of Kérity cannot face the essential investments.
To ensure the economic development of the area of Paimpol and the extension of its residential area, the fusion of the communes appears necessary right after the second world war. It will be made thing later fifteen years when on November 26th, 1960, following a vote organized for the inhabitants of the communes concerned, is created “Large Paimpol” with Kérity and Plounez.
The feeling of membership of Kérity is very present still today in the spirit of good number of its inhabitants. However, these last years, the small borough lost the majority of its food trade carried by the development of large distribution. Kérity saw to be established on its territory a hospital and a college and many residential zones. Development projects are in hand. The tourist activity developed around the abbey of Beauport.
