Justin Wilson

Justin Boyd Wilson (born the July 31st 1978 with Sheffield, England -) is a British racing driver, champion of Formule 3000 in 2001, which disputed 16 Grands Prix of Formule 1 for the stables Minardi and Jaguar during the season 2003.

Biography

Beginnings

Justin Wilson begins the competition by the Karting, in 1987. In 1995, it passes to the automobile sport, in the British championship of Formule Vauxhall. At the end of three seasons in the discipline without managing to take down the title, it decides to be registered in 1998 in the very new championship of Formule Micrometer caliper Audi, created by the old driver of Formula 1 Jonathan Palmer. This choice of career proves to be judicious since it gains the title, and is nominated at the end of the year with the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver off the Year Award . Désormé managed by Jonathan Micrometer caliper, Wilson reaches in 1999 the international championship of Formule 3000. Progressing regularly in the discipline, it ends up being titrated in 2001. But this success is not enough to open the doors of Formula 1 to him. Wilson suffers indeed from two handicaps: first of all its big size which frightens the engineers, accustomed to design single-seaters for pilots with the gauge of jockeys; but also a lack of financial supports, essential sesame to allure the least fortunate stables. For 2002, Wilson must thus be satisfied with a wheel in the championship of World Series by Nissan (which it finishes 4th), of a level equivalent to the championship of Formula 3000.

Short career Formulates 1 of them

In spite of the stagnation of his career, Wilson continues to maintain the contacts with the world of Formula 1. Allured by the British pilot, Australian the Paul Stoddart is said ready to accommodate it at Minardi and to make design a hull adapted to its size, provided that he manages to join together the sufficient budget. Always private from financial supports, Justin Wilson then will find an average new to join together the amount of money claimed by Minardi: he proposes with the public to buy “shares” of his own career, shares which will give the subscribers to the rights on its future benefit. The initiative, abundantly relayed in the specialized press meets an immense success and makes it possible Wilson to make safe his wheel Formulates 1 of them and to be thus at the beginning of the Grand Prix of Australia, first sleeve of the championship of the world 2003. Even if the modest material of which it lays out does not make it possible him to obtain satisfactory results, Wilson makes good impression by posting a level of competitiveness close to sound tested and considered fellow-member Jos Verstappen. He also points out himself by his splendid departures, whose best will remain without question that of the Grand Prix of Malaysia: qualified in 19th position on the grid, it buckles the first tower in the eighth place!

It disputes the first eleven races of the season for the Italian team, before being called by the British stable Jaguar to dispute the five last races to replace Brazilian the Antonio Pizzonia, drawn aside for insufficiency of results. In Jaguar, he knows three abandonments on engine trouble, but mark his first (and single) not in championship of the world while being classified 8th at the time of the Grand Prix of the United States. But for the season 2004, Jaguar prefers to him the young person Autrichien Christian Klien (supported by the sponsor Red Bull) and he does not manage to find of wheel, which puts a premature term at its career Formulates 1 of them.

Field Because

As of 2004, Justin Wilson finds refuge in the championship Champ Because, within the modest stable Semi-Jack Conquest Racing. Its performances and its regularity in race are worth to him to be recruited as of the following season by the powerful RuSPORT stable, where it gradually takes the ascending one on its young fellow-member A.J. Allmendinger, and gains its first success in the discipline, at the time of the Grand Prix of Toronto. A second victory at the end of the season (in Mexico City) enables him to finish the championship in the third place, behind the invincible pilots of Newman/Haas Racing. Always at RuSPORT in 2006, it confirms that it is one of all the best pilots of the Field Because, takes down a new victory (with Edmonton) and finishes second of the championship, but without being parvenu to worry Sebastien Bourdais with general classification. It that point will not reach either in 2007 in spite of a victory over the circuit of Assen, and will fight battle for the second place of the championship, vis-a-vis Robert Doornbos and Will Power. Before the last race of the championship it was classified 2nd with the general, but always mathematically under the threat of these two last. It will keep finally this final place of vice-champion.
