Juscelino Kubitschek

Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira , (September 12th 1902 with Diamantina- MG - August 22nd 1976), President of the Republic of the United States of the Brazil of the January 31st 1956 with the January 31st 1961, elected with 3  077  411 voix.
Doctor of profession, it is at the origin of the creation of Brasilia, inaugurated the April 21st 1960.

Originating in the middle-class class of the Minas Gerais, it makes studies of medicine, then engages in policy. The introduction of the Estado Novo of Vargas returns it to medicine. But he becomes mayor of Belo Horizonte in 1945, governor of the Minas Gerais in 1950, then president of the Republic of 1956 with 1961. Its slogan of countryside east “ 50 years of progress in 5 years ”. It is him which launches the project of Brasilia as capital which he wants to be the modern window of the destiny of Brazil. It also makes an effort for the Brazilian networks of roads and railroads. This modernization increases the financial problems of the country, the country is involved in debt: this policy finally proves to lead to “ 50 years of inflation in 5 years ” and the currency must be devaluated.

Jânio Quadros succeeds to him, then João Goulart, on the left. The military takeover removes it Brazilian political scene.
