Junkers J 9
The Junkers J 9 was a single-seat hunter German of the First World War builds by the company " Junkers & Co.". It was the first fighter plan entirely built out of metal (corrugated sheet aluminum).
J9 was the successor of the Junkers J 7 and it kept the principal characteristics of them. For the development of this apparatus it was created the company " Junker-Fokker A.G.". Fokker influenced the development of this plane at Junkers, but the co-operation of the two companies was of short duration.
The first flight of this aircraft take place in April 1918 and as of May it was ordered 20 planes of this type, but only a dozen specimens were actually delivered until the end of the war, a few months later. This plane was shown very powerful during in-flight tests, but the pilots of the face were sulky it because of its unusual appearance for the time.
J9 was been driven by an engine of 160 ch Mercedes D IIIaü which enabled him to reach approximately 220 km/h. In November 1918 of the tests carried out with an engine BMW IIIa of 180 ch have made it possible to reach 240 km/h.
A specimen of this plane is today in the Musée of the Air to Paris. It had been abandoned on an aerodrome of countryside by German during their withdrawal after the armistice in November 1918.
