• 1940 . France: installation with Paris of the Wehrmachtverkehrsdirektion (WVD, direction of the Transport S of the German army, the Wehrmacht), charged to control the exploitation of the railroads. It is directed by colonel Göritz.

• 1970 . the United States: the company Central PEN, which exploits railway lines in the West of the United States, is declared in bankruptcy, while continuing to make circulate its trains until in 1976. It was at the time the greatest bankruptcy of the history of the the United States.
