- Bulgaria: Within the framework of the Bulgarian “perestroîka”, any citizen not “holder of secrecies of State”, which does not have debts and which is in rule with the law, can obtain a passport allowing him to leave the country and to return there freely. - South Africa: The writer Richard Rive is assassinated.
- China: The Chinese army represses the revolt of the students on the Place Tian' anmen with Beijing. The event is covered on line on television. The intervention had started as of the night of the 3 to the 4 with the arrival of the armoured tanks of the 27e army corps. - France: The National Assembly votes the bill of Amnistie for the freedom fighters inhabitants of Guadeloupe and inhabitant of Martinique of the Caribbean revolutionary Alliance.
Tuesday June 6th 1989
- Iran: State funeral of the Ayatollah Khomeini. Nearly three million people absorb the funeral procession. Scenes of Collective hysteria are filmed and several tens of people die trampled.
