Jumet
Jumet (in Walloon Djumet ) is a section of the Belgian city of Charleroi located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.
It was a commune with whole share before the fusion of the communes of 1977.
History
Before the fusion (1977), Jumet was the largest commune of Belgium.Located along the Roman roadway of Bavay in Cologne, it included/understood plusieures Roman villas, of which that of the centurion " Jimiacus" who gave the name of the commune
Economy
Jumet was industrially known by its industry of the Verre, with a manufacturing plant of bottle (BBR) which then became Verlipack then was dedicated to closing, thus involving a considerable loss for the working class.
Folklore
Jumet it is also the Tour of the Madeleine, who is at the same time a religious procession and a folk walk , where several thousands of observers ravel Sunday more close to the July 22nd.
Media
Jumet has since 1980 its own local radio entitled J600 (J for Jumet and 600 because creates for the 600ème birthday of the Madeleine). She emits each day on the tape FM 106.1 in modulated frequency.
