  • 1918 . the United States: Two trains of the company Nashville, Chattanooga and St Louis Railroad enter in collision, killing 101 people and by wounding some 171 others, in what is to date the greatest railway catastrophe of the history of the the United States (photo).
  • 1926 . the United States: The first use of a telephone on train takes place in a train of the company New York Central Railroad .
