- 1903 ( Cycling ): Maurice Garin gains very first the Tour de France while remaining leader of the general classification of the beginning at the end of the test. 60 leaving and 21 cyclists classified on arrival first outer loop. Garin precedes with general classification Lucien Pothier of almost three hours and Fernand Augereau of almost 4 a.m. and half.
- 1907 ( Football ): With Winnipeg, Calgary Caledonians beats Winnipeg Brittanias 1-0 at the time of the finale of the first edition of the People' S Shield.
- 1919 ( Cycling ): At the beginning of the 11th stage of the Tour de France (Grenoble), Eugene Christophe is covered very first Yellow jersey of the history, on an idea of Henri Desgrange which wished to distinguish more easily and to honor the leader with general classification.

- 1952 ( Cycling ): The Italian Fausto Coppi gains the Tour de France in front of the Belgian Constant Ockers and the Spanish Bernardo Ruiz.
- 1981 ( Sumo ): After its new victory with the Tournament of Nagoya, the Sumotori Japan board Mitsugu Chiyonofuji (千代の富士貢) is promoted Yokozuna. It becomes the 58e fighter to obtain the supreme title in the history of this sport.
