  • July 2nd:

    • Hitler orders the preparation of the plans for the invasion of the Great Britain, code name Opération Otary.
    • the Polish of the Brigade of the hunters of Carpates, that the Vichy government wants to disarm in Syria, pass in Palestine.

  • July 3rd:

    • the Royal Navy brutally attacks with Seas-el-Kébir close to Oran the French fleet: 1.297 sailors are killed, the squadron of Alexandria is neutralized and all the French ships having found refuge in the British ports “are seized” by Royal Navy.
  • July 5th:

    • Rupture of the diplomatic relations between the Vichy government and the British government.
  • July 6th: New British attack on Seas-el-Kébir. Main target of this second air attack, the battleship Dunkirk , already damaged by the first tackles three days earlier.

  • July 8th: Attacks British on the French battleship Richelieu in roads of Dakar.

  • July 9th:

    • naval Action enters the fleets Italian and British.
  • July 10th:

    • the Parliament gives the constituent capacities to Philippe Pétain, the president of the Republic Albert Lebrun is thus “resigned” of office. It is the end of the Third Republic.
