Julius Martov

Julius Martov , of its true name Yuly Ossipovitch Tsederbaum (November 24th 1873 with Constantinople - April 4th 1923 with Schömberg), is a Russian revolutionist .

He founds in 1895 the Union of fight for the emancipation of the working class with Lénine. He is stopped the following year, and spends three years in prison. In its release, it takes part with Lénine in the foundation of the Iskra .

In 1903, at the time of the second congress of the Left working social democrat Russia (POSDR), it is opposed to Lénine on the questions of organization and becomes one of the leaders of the menchevic fraction.

Martov was pacifist (“Menchévik internationalist”) during the First World War and took part for this reason in the Conférence of Zimmerwald.

After the Revolution of October, he was opposed to the Bolchevique S and ends up leaving the country in 1920. He died in exile in Germany.
