Julius Capitolinus
Julius Capitolinus , one of the fictitious authors of the collection of biographies known as History Auguste .
Its name at the head appears of the lives of the emperor Antonin the Piles and of his successors until Balbin, following the work allotted to Spartien. " Capitolinus" claims itself contemporary of Dioclétien and of Constantin and would have dedicated its writings to them. Those are inspired partly by the history of Hérodien.
Writings of " Capitolinus" were transl. by E. Valton qualified schoolteacher with the Charlemagne college, Paris, 1844, in the library Latin-French of Panckoucke. The French translation most recent is that of André Chastagnol in 1994.
