Jules Verne , born the February 8th 1828 with Nantes, dead the March 24th 1905 with Amiens, is a writer French, including one most of work is devoted to novels of adventures and Science-fiction (called time of Jules Verne Science fiction novel). The year 2005 was declared “year Jules Verne”, at the time of the centenary of died of the author.

Biography

Youths

Jules Verne was born in Nantes, in the district of the island Feydeau, the February 8th 1828. He is the son of Pierre Verne (originating in Provins), following the occupation of Avoué, and Sophie Allote of Fuÿe, a Nantes middle-class family navigators and ship-owners. Jules Verne is the elder one of an family of five children, including/understanding his Paul brother (1829 - 1897) and three sisters: Anna, born in 1836, Mathilde, born in 1839, and Marie, born in 1842. It makes stays with Brains.

The legend affirms that in 1839, at the 11 years age, the small Jules would have embarked on a long mail bound for the India S, in the capacity as foam. His/her father would then have recovered it in-extremis with Paimbœuf. It is said that Jules Verne would have acknowledged that it had left to bring back a collar of coral to his cousin, Caroline Tronson, with which it was in love. Literary beginnings

His/her father wants to make of him a lawyer. He makes his studies of Rhétorique and Philosophie to the college of Nantes, then studies of Droit after the baccalaureat. The extraordinary voyages

In 1862, Jules Verne submits to the editor Pierre-Jules Hetzel (1814 - 1886) its Romance Five weeks in balloon which appears in 1863, being an immense success, beyond the French borders. It then signs with Pierre-Jules Hetzel a Contrat which binds it for 20 years with the editor, in which it is committed providing Romance S in particular for the review the Store of education and recreation intended for the Jeunesse. It is in this Journal that the Adventures of the captain Hatteras will appear before being published in Romance. In fact, Verne works during forty years with his extraordinary Voyages which will count sixty-four volumes. In 1863, always, Jules Verne written Paris with the XX {{E}} century , which will appear only in 1994.

In 1864, Jules Verne devotes a work to Edgar Poe ( Edgar Poe and its works ), it publishes the Romance S the Adventures of the captain Hatteras and Voyage in the center of the Earth , leaves its use of stockbroker, and moves with Auteuil. The March 16th 1867, in company of his/her brother Paul, it embarks on the Great Eastern with Liverpool for the the United States, it will draw from its crossing the Romance a floating city (1870). Jules Verne buys his boat the Saint-Michel in 1868, Chaloupe of fishing arranged for the pleasure, it will make his study of it.

Mobilized like coastguard with the Crotoy during the war of 1870, Jules Verne continues however to write. Around the years 1870 - 1872 he lived during one short period in Suisse in the town of Sion to the street of the church NR. 7 as a tenant at Pierre Heanni. It settles with Amiens, birthplace of his wife, in 1872, publishes the Round the world tour in eighty days , acquires of the Saint-Michel II , in 1874. It gives a sumptuous ball dressed up to Amiens as 1877, with the participation of his friend Nadar, who was used as model with the Michel Ardan , hero of its Romance S Of the Earth to the Moon and Around the moon . From June to August 1878, Jules Verne sails of Lisbon to Algiers on the Saint-Michel III , then in Scotland, Norway and Ireland in 1880. It makes large a tower of the the Mediterranean in company of his wife in 1884.

Last years

In 1886, the nephew of Jules Verne, Gaston, come seems it to require money of him, shoots two balls from revolver at the writer, which wound it with the legs and will cause him a final boitery. In 1888, Jules Verne is elected at the municipal council of Amiens on a republican list (left moderate), it will sit fifteen years there. It is reached of cataract in 1900.

The beginning of 1903, Jules Verne chaired the group Espérantiste of Amiens. Burning defender of this very young international language, it promises with his friends to write a novel where it would describe the merits of the Esperanto. Died prematurely, its book will not be completed. The draft will be taken again by his/her Michel son, but final work ( the Astonishing Adventure of the mission Barsac ) will not refer to the Esperanto.

Patient of diabetes, Jules Verne will die out the March 24th 1905 with Amiens in his house of 44, boulevard Longueville (today Jules-Verne boulevard). He is buried with the Cimetière of the Madeleine in Amiens.
Several books of Jules Verne will appear after his death, published by his/her son Michel Verne, who will take the responsability to alter certain manuscripts.

Heritage

Jules Verne leaves behind him a rich work of an extraordinary creativity. It is one of the first authors to be mixed with as much success science fiction, ventures and fantastic. Its interest for science and the fact that it approaches in its novels of the topics which will be concretized in the current of the 20th century (voyage on the moon, submarine, etc) confer the statute of visionary to him. Its novels will be frequently adapted to the Cinéma, their account with large spectacle lending itself perfectly to the productions Hollywood iennes. Its characters are icons of imaginary popular (such Phileas Fogg, the Capitaine Nemo or Michel Strogoff).
