Jules Roy
Jules Roy is a French writer (Rovigo (Algérie), October 22nd 1907 - Vézelay, June 15th 2000).
High-school pupil with the seminar, he becomes officer Algerian rifleman in AFN before passing in the Air force to France before the war. After the unloading of Combined in North Africa, it leaves for the Great Britain where it will fight within RAF as commander in Bending it Command. This episode of its life will be used as framework with the happy valley . In June 1953, it breaks with the army, of which it judges that it is dishonoured in the war of Indo-China, he disapproves its methods.
It turns then fully to the Littérature. Its work will be crowned by prestigious prices. After the death of his friend Albert Camus, he denounces the war of Algeria and his atrocities.
Towards the end of its life, it is withdrawn with Vézelay

An association for the centenary of Jules Roy was created in 2005 to prepare the national celebrations of 2007. “Association of the Jules-Roy Centenary”.
