Jules Rimet
Jules Rimet (October 14th 1873 - October 15th 1956) was leading of Football, successively president-founder of the Parisian club of the Red Star, president of the French federation, then, 33 years during, president of FIFA.
Biography
Born with Theuley-les-Lavoncourt (Haute-Saône), Jules Rimet was initially a militant Christian. He founds in 1898 a Christian, republican and democratic newspaper, “the Review”, which amalgamates, in January 1899 with the Furrow of Marc Sangnier, which made break many Christians with monarchy.
After having founded the Parisian football club of Red Star, Jules Rimet integrates the direction of the USFSA and takes part in the foundation of FIFA in 1904. But USFSA opera hat quickly the door of the international institution, prohibiting with the clubs which all composed it matches international. Jules Rimet then makes pass his Red Star under the banner of Football league Association, member of CFI recognized by the FIFA (1908).
Surviving the Great War with a rank of lieutenant of Infantry and a Military Cross, Jules Rimet is elected president of the very new French federation of Football Association the April 11th 1919.
He leaves the presidency of FFF in 1949 following the “business of the Saar”. Rimet wanted to integrate Saarbrucken into the championship of France, but this motion was rejected by the other clubs with the cry of “Bordeaux rather than Saarbrucken”.
It remains on the other hand posts some with the presidency of the FIFA of 1921 with 1954. During its mandate record 33 year old, it puts in particular at the world the Football world cup in 1930 while taking as a starting point the success of the Olympic tournament. The World cup bore besides the name of Coupe Jules Rimet until in 1970.
Jules Rimet is deceased on October 15th 1956 with Suresnes (92), one year after being proposed like Nobel Prize of peace.
The cut Jules Rimet
It is the name given to the first editions of the football world cup.- the first cut, out of metal plated with the fine gold, is the representation of the Victoire goddess. One engraved there the names of the winners of 1930 to 1970.
- Of 1930 to 1970, the victorious country of the Football world cup remained holder until the following cut about it four years later.
- In 1970, following its third victory the Brazil with receipt this cut in a final way (its first two victories going back to 1958 and 1962).
- In 1974, a new cut, of a different drawing, was concerned (photograph).
