Jules Pasdeloup

Jules Etienne Pasdeloup is a Leader French born the September 15th 1819 with Paris and died in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne) the August 13rd 1887.

Biography

He learns the piano with the Conservatoire from Paris where he gains the first price of musical theory (1832) and piano (1834). He teaches there between 1841 and 1868. He founds and directs the symphonic concerts of the Company of the young artists to Paris (first concert on February 20th, 1853) which becomes the Company of the young artists of the imperial Academy of music (1856-1865). Then, it founds the Popular Concerts (first concert on October 27th, 1861 with the Cirque of winter in Paris) which will become thereafter the Concerts Pasdeloup.

It creates, also, the Company of the oratorios (1868) and becomes leader to the Opera house (1868-1870).

Its popular concerts are abandoned in 1884 in consequence of the competition exerted by the Concerts Column and the Concerts Lamoureux. They begin again in 1886 and 1887.

But like writes it Adolphe Julien, it repurchases the defects which it has as musician by: a love impassioned for the art, which it communicated to its orchestra, with its listeners, and who transformed it into a kind of prédicant monk, of apostle enlightened of the classical music.
