Jules Margerin

Jules Margerin (1837 - 1920) is a French Médecin and contractor.

Resulting from a family of Mulquinier S (tisserands of Cambric) and notable buildings (mayeurs, aldermen) of Saint-Hilaire-lez-Cambric (Cambrésis), Jules Margerin breaks with the family tradition and becomes Valencian doctor with (Northern).

He marries Rosalie Leriche, girl of Philippe Leriche (1816 - 1861) (manufacturer of cambric and mayor of the Neuville-on-Scheldt) and Marie Antoinette Nicq.

Impassioned sciences and technology, Jules Margerin transforms, as of before 1895, the mill on the the Scheldt inherited his wife with the Neuville-on-Scheldt in a power station of production of electricity to the service of the farms of the surroundings, Gare of Lourches and commune of the Neuville-on-Scheldt. He appears consequently among the pioneers of rural electrification in France. At that time, only big industry was entitled to electricity, while the big cities just started to be connected. Rural electrification will be generalized in France only in the Années 1920 - 1930.
