Jules-Albert de Dion

The Count, then Marquis (with died of his/her father) Jules-Albert de Dion was a pioneer of industry Automobile in France and a Politician French, born the March 9th 1856 with Carquefou, close to Nantes and dead on August 19th 1946 with Paris.

Its burial is in the funerary vault of the family, with the hamlet of Wandonne (commune of Audincthun) in the Pas-de-Calais.

The politician

  • General adviser of the Canton of Carquefou of 1899 to 1934

  • Appointed Loire-Inférieure of 1902 to 1923. It sits at the extreme-right-hand side, antidreyfusard and burning defender of the Catholic church. It is even stopped during the expulsion of the congregations.
  • Senator of Loire-Inférieure of 1923 to 1940. He abstains from at the time of the vote of the full powerss to the Pétain marshal.

The manufacturer of car and rail-cars

De Dion, with its associate Georges Button and Charles Trépardoux, founded the company of the automobile Of Dion-Button to Puteaux in 1883, which was, for a small period, the largest manufacturer automobile in the world, then, after the First World War, the principal French manufacturer of rail-cars.

He is the founder of the Motor Show in 1898, and cofounder of the Automobile Club of France and cofounder of the Aéro-Club of France in 1898. He creates in 1900 the newspaper " the Car ".
